My paintings are figurative. However, the composition starts by intuition. On the virgin panel I see certain light points that mark the spots of attraction in my creation. Out of these spots rise forces that change into movements and colours. They grow and develop into figures with a certain posture. The picture that evolves this way is a bit like a dream. It doesn’t fit with what we conceive as ordinary daily life, but it touches the mystery that lives underneath in our sub consciousness.

I paint an inner world that tempts me to be discovered, understood and loved unconditionally.

As a result, one time my work shows the force of wisdom and the love and peace this wisdom harbours. An other time, when the spirit is confused and the right view on life is absent, it shows the inner fight and agony of human being.

I paint on stout wooden panels, which give the paintings a rich and solid appearance. This solid base also gives me the opportunity to mix the pigments very firmly on the panel, which results often unexpectedly in the most fantastic colours. Working with acrylic paint gives me the chance to quickly paint different layers.

Often thin glazing, sometimes bold impasto.

Ever since my childhood I love to sketch and paint. I can completely lose myself in it. My way of painting has developed like the rest of my life: by stumbling and falling, and learning from my mistakes.

The most beautiful colours and most essential details arrive by sheer coincidence.

I often wonder: ‘Who is painting? What is moving my brush?’

How my paintings

are born...

In 1994, a search for inner peace started a new development in my life. In the past years of introspection and meditation practice, I have tried to paint the many insights that I developed. Which showed to be impossible, because these visions come to me when I least expect them, in a flash. Moreover, they are very large and very detailed. That is why in my paintings I try to picture only the essence of my visions, meant as a reminder and a steppingstone for further spiritual development.
